Claude Duet can take on much of the thinking behind LinkedIn outreach, but it does not change who sends the messages, how many one LinkedIn account can send, or LinkedIn's rules on automation [2]. Anthropic's release notes describe Duet as a new app where Claude works as a proactive agent, opened as a research preview for Pro and Max plans 1. The outreach itself still has to be sent from a LinkedIn account and answered by someone.
01 What is Claude Duet?
Anthropic's release notes for October 21, 2026 say: "We just opened a research preview for users on Pro and Max plans: Claude Duet, a new app where Claude works as a proactive agent." 1 That is close to all Anthropic has put in its release notes about it so far 1.
Two words in that line matter for anyone thinking about outreach. Proactive means the agent is meant to start work, not only wait for a prompt. Research preview means it is early, open to some paid plans, and likely to change. Plan around what it does for you today, not what a waitlist promises.
02 What a proactive agent could do for your prospecting
Most of the hours in LinkedIn outreach go into work that happens before anything is sent, and after a reply comes in. That is reading and writing, which is where an agent like this is strongest. A proactive one can also keep a routine going on days you forget about it.
- Turning your best customers into a buyer profile and a short list of search terms
- Reading a prospect's company, role and recent posts, and saying why now might be a good time
- Drafting a first note and two follow-ups in your voice, for you to edit
- Reminding you who replied and who is waiting on an answer
- Sorting replies by intent and drafting a response for you to check
- Looking back over a month of conversations and naming what drew answers
03 What it does not change on LinkedIn
The limit on LinkedIn outreach is rarely the writing. It is reach. One account sends about 100 connection requests per week, as the weekly invite limit page explains, and a proactive agent does not raise that number.
Nor does it change the rules about software acting inside your account. LinkedIn's help page on automated activity says "we don't allow the use of third-party software or browser extensions that scrape, modify the appearance of, or automate activity on LinkedIn's website" 2. An agent that starts work by itself makes that sentence more relevant, not less.
So the useful question is not whether Duet writes well. It is who sends, from which profiles, at what volume, and who answers when a prospect says yes.
04 Every realistic way to get LinkedIn outreach done
Running it yourself with Duet at your side is one option. Here are the others, with what is good and bad about each.
- Duet for preparation, you for sending. Your words, your profile, sharper research. Volume stays at what one person sends, and the habit has to hold every week.
- Teammates sending from their own profiles. Each profile adds weekly reach. Someone has to keep senders, lists and replies in order. See multiple senders.
- InMail to Open Profiles. Reaches people without spending an invitation. Credits are limited each month. See LinkedIn InMail automation.
- Email after LinkedIn. Reaches people who never check their LinkedIn messages. It needs verified addresses and careful cold email practice.
- Hiring an SDR or an agency. A person owns the work. It costs a salary or a retainer and takes weeks to ramp. See outsourcing LinkedIn lead generation.
- Having the outreach run for you. A done-for-you service runs the list, the sequences and the replies at a set monthly volume. You hand over your voice and need to trust the people using it.
06 Questions to ask before an agent touches your outreach
Whether it is Duet, another agent, a tool or a service, the same questions sort the options quickly.
- What does it do without asking you first? A proactive agent needs clear lines on what waits for your yes.
- Who sends, and from which profile? Your own profile carries your name and your network.
- How is volume planned inside LinkedIn's limits? Ask for the plan, not a promise.
- Who reads each message before it goes out? Unread drafts are where AI outreach most often goes wrong.
- Who answers replies, and how fast? A warm reply left for days is a lost meeting.
07 More on AI agents and LinkedIn
The guide on the newest Opus model and LinkedIn outreach looks at the model side of the same question, and the one on Meta's agent app and LinkedIn outreach at another agent launch this season. If your team already works in Claude, the Claude LinkedIn automation page covers how the service can be reached from it.
- Anthropic's release notes describe Claude Duet as a new app where Claude works as a proactive agent, in research preview for Pro and Max plans 1.
- An agent like this helps most with research, drafts, reminders and reply sorting.
- It does not raise reach: one account still sends about 100 connection requests per week.
- LinkedIn's help page says it does not allow third-party software that automates activity on its website 2.
- Teammates' profiles, InMail, email, an SDR, an agency or a done-for-you service are what add reach.
FAQ Frequently asked questions
Can Claude Duet send LinkedIn messages for me?
Anthropic's release notes describe Duet as an app where Claude works as a proactive agent, and say little more yet. Whatever it can reach, LinkedIn's help page says it does not allow third-party software that automates activity on its website. Use Duet to prepare and remind, and plan the sending separately.
Who can use Claude Duet right now?
Anthropic's release notes say the research preview opened for users on Pro and Max plans. A research preview is early and can change, so check Anthropic's own pages for the latest before building a routine around it.
Is Claude Duet better than Meta Muse for sales prospecting?
For LinkedIn outreach the bigger question is the same for both: neither changes how many people one account can reach or LinkedIn's rules. Choose the one you already work in for research and drafts, and decide separately who sends and who answers.
Will a proactive AI agent get me more LinkedIn replies?
It can mean better research and sharper messages, and it can keep follow-ups from slipping. Replies still depend on reaching the right people at a volume your accounts allow, and on someone answering fast. An agent helps most when those are already in place.
Should I use an AI agent myself or have my LinkedIn outreach run for me?
If you have time each day and need a few conversations a month, an agent and your own profile may be enough. If you need a steady number of new conversations every month and nobody owns the work, an SDR, an agency or a done-for-you service fits better.
